A grandparentage DNA test is used to prove if a couple is grandparents of a child. Since the child inherits half of her DNA from the mother and the other half from her father, half of her DNA from the paternal side must be inherited from the paternal grandparents. This test is often used to prove paternity indirectly when the father is not available for testing.
In a grandparentage DNA test, both grandparents, the child and the child’s biological mother will participate in the testing. The child’s biological mother is highly encouraged to participate because it helps to eliminate the child’s half DNA data inherited from the mother in the analysis. When the mother is not available for testing, extended testing and analysis is needed to achieve more conclusive results.
The grandparentage DNA testing is normally used when inheritance, immigration and genetic disease are involved. For more information about our grandparentage DNA testing service, please call one of our caring and knowledgeable case managers at 513-898-9826.
